This is a travel journal where I will be jotting down notes about places that I want to see so that it will be easier to plan our European conquest in the midst of IB exams, band, and graduation (among other unforeseen but necessary complications). This is something that I have always wanted to do, and I hope that my parents and I can see many cool and interesting places without blowing our tops (lol).
Itinerary:
Paris- I would love to see Paris even though it has the reputation of a snooty, ridiculously overpriced restaurant. Nonetheless, it is Paris, with all of its history and drama (King Louis XVI was beheaded on January 21, 1793) and it houses many of the world’s most famous landmarks. (Hopefully there won’t be a mob or giant riot when we go, but you caint never tell with those zany Parisians.)
· Louve Museum (Pre-Da vinci Code hype)
· Eiffel Tower
· Arc de Trioumphe (ya, check spelling on that)
· Shopping, dining
· Crepe
· Notre Dame
· Versailles- this is Louis XIV’s magnificent palace that he spent sooo much moolah on I just have to see it. Granted its not a castle, but when I learned about it in AP European History this year it became a must see on my list of European Travel!!! Long live the king- Vive le roi!! Let them eat cake!! (Check on train that goes from Paris to here)
Italy- I know that we have already been here, and I’m not sure which cities I want to go back to, but mom wants to go back really bad, and when I look through our scrapbook it reminds me how much I missed and that I would really appreciate it so much more now! Like the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and the Traselvere Fountain in Rome, just all of these really cool things. Even walking along the narrow streets would be soo much fun!
· Uffizi Gallery
· Traselvere Fountain (ya, this too)
· Colliseum
· Awesome narrow streets
· Even St. Marks Square in Venice (despite the smell)
· Rome
· Florence
· Vatican
Germany- Now this place has history! From the Holy Roman Empire to Prussia, to the Nazi regime, to present day, it’s amazing!! And can we say CASTLES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, sorry, got my composure now! Anyway, this just seems like a really cool place, I guess I don’t really know too much about it now, but like, it has the World Cup 2006 so it must be cool (do some more research) Oh, and Alex and his family are there, so maybe we could catch up with them and learn a little German!
· Berlin (Berlin Wall, Holocaust Memorial)
· Munich
· Bavaria
· CASTLES
· Beer (for daddy of course… however, I will be 18…)
Amsterdam, Netherlands- This place sounds really cool! I hear about all of the canals and beautiful architecture and it makes my mouth water (literally). Mrs. Fegan (AP Euro) went and said that most of it is really nice.
· Canals
Belgium- Chocolate??
Switzerland- Alps, peaceful, beautiful
Spain- well, hopefully I will be fluent in Spanish and that would be a great way to practice and not lose it! (5 years) Also, Ferdinand and Isabella kinda united Spain and drove out the Moors, however there is also lots of pretty Moorish influence in the buildings and all would be cool to see! And I studied about Cataluna is Spanish this year and that sounds really cool (Barcelona esta en la region de Cataluna.)
· Barcelona
· Church there, big, never finished…
· Madrid
· Castles
Greece- A little out of the way, but nonetheless cool. You’ve got Athens that hosted the summer Olympics. You’ve got your white washed houses on gorgeous islands that just scream “Ahhhhh” how relaxing. Also, all of that cool mythology stuff originated here, so The Oracle at Delphi, Apollo’s Temple, and I’m sure that there’s a lot more too.
· Athens
· Mythology related stuff
